U.S. Citizen Services

Due to COVID-19 the U.S. Embassy Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General Lagos have not yet resumed full consular services.  U.S. citizens and parents of U.S. citizen children should enroll in STEP at https://step.state.gov and list a trip to Nigeria.  This will ensure that they receive the most up-to-date information on the gradual resumption of consular services.  Individuals should also view the “Alerts and Messages” page on our website for past messages on limited resumption of services.  For emergency American Citizen Services, including emergency passports, please send an email requesting an emergency appointment to AbujaACS@state.gov or LagosACS@state.gov based on your location.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section of the U.S. Mission to Nigeria provides a wide range of information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Nigeria. American Citizens Services are offered at the Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos. Each has different service hours. Refer to this map (PDF 166 KB) for the states covered by each office. Click on either the Abuja Consular District or Lagos Consular District for specific information.
