Routine Message:  Update and Importance of Enrolling in STEP
9 MINUTE READ
March 26, 2020

Location:  Nigeria

Event:  The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria grew to 51 since yesterday.  While no new announcements have been made from the federal or state government level, we are closely monitoring the situation should additional closures take place to further combat the spread of the virus.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced that all international airports in Nigeria are closed until April 23, 2020.  For U.S. citizens who have expressed an interest in returning to the United States, we are reviewing your information.  You should have received an automatic response message after submitting your email request.  Please do not resend the message or call to ask about the status of the flight.  Once we have this information, or if we need additional information from you, we will reach out to you directly.

At present, there are no scheduled flights to the United States.  However, we are actively exploring options and attempting to secure flights despite global airport closures and travel restrictions.  We will email U.S. citizens immediately once we have flight details, routes, and costs.  Please note: all individuals who choose to return to the United States on a flight organized by the U.S. Department of State will be required to sign a promissory note to pay for the full cost of the flight.  Costs have not yet been determined.  Once flight options have been identified, that information will be communicated as well.

U.S. citizens who are interested in returning to the United States, but have not contacted us yet, should please fill out the electronic form corresponding to your location and submit for EACH traveler who is to be evacuated to the United States.

Abuja: Click here to access the Electronic Form

Please note: all travelers must have all required valid travel documents such as a passport and any required visa, and must be otherwise eligible to travel to the United States, before being eligible to board a flight.
