The State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, represented in Nigeria by the Attaché for Law Enforcement Assistance, provides a variety of assistance to Nigerian agencies involved in law enforcement activities. This assistance includes, but is not limited to, training and equipment for the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, the Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Immigration and Customs. The office also funds training programs conducted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S.-operated International Law Enforcement Academy in Botswana. The primary focus is on narcotics interdiction, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering, and police reform.
