Event:  Evacuation Flight Planned

The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos has confirmed an evacuation flight for the week of June 29 – July 05. The flight with depart from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. The final destination for this flight will be Atlanta, GA. The anticipated cost of the flight for an adult ticket is $2100, with a child’s ticket around $1700 and infant is $250 each. At this time, we have no anticipated flights from Abuja.

If we have space for you on the flight, you will receive a phone call and a confirmation letter sent to the e-mail you provided in the evacuation flight questionnaire. Please monitor your phone and e-mail, including Spam/Junk e-mail if you have registered for an evacuation flight.

Please note that this evacuation flight is a one-way flight at the expense of the traveler(s). No money is required upfront. All individuals who choose to return to the United States on a flight organized by the U.S. Department of State will be required to sign a promissory note to reimburse the government for the full cost of each seat on the flight. 

Travelers will be responsible for arranging and funding their own travel from Atlanta, GA to their final destination, and for any return flight to Nigeria. The U.S. Department of State is unable to assist with identifying resources or providing funding for housing, food, or transportation in Nigeria or within the United States.

Please note that pets will not be allowed to accompany travelers as either cargo or in-cabin on this flight. Additional information will be sent out by e-mail regarding baggage restrictions with your specific flight details.

If you are interested in taking an evacuation flight organized by the U.S. Consulate General and you have not yet completed the questionnaire, please CAREFULLY and ACCURATELY complete the appropriate questionnaire below. EACH TRAVELER in your party must complete his/her own questionnaire in order to be included in our data.  You should complete the form only for the consular district where you are located.

If you have already completed the questionnaire, please do not submit another form or call to check on the status of a flight; we have received your information. If we have space for you on a future flight, you will be contacted by phone using the number you provided in the evacuation request questionnaire.

We ask all those seeking to receive updates from the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or Consulate General in Lagos to register for the Smart Travel Enrollment Program (STEP) at step.state.gov.
