Seats Still Available on Evacuation Flight

The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos has a scheduled evacuation flight from Lagos to Washington D.C. via Addis Ababa on Friday, August 21 on Ethiopian Airlines.  At this time, seats remain available on this flight.

The U.S. Consulate WILL NOT be calling travelers to book these flights and travelers WILL NOT be signing promissory notes. All travelers must book and pay for their tickets through Ethiopian Airlines. See below for details.

Please note:  There are no scheduled flights from Abuja at this time.


Only U.S. Citizens and those who already have U.S. Legal Permanent Residency (LPR) status (green card holder) can book a ticket on this evacuation flight.  All other immigrant and non-immigrant visa holders are not eligible for these evacuation flights. If you purchase a ticket and are not a U.S. Citizen or LPR at the time of travel, you do so at your own risk and may not receive a refund if denied boarding.

Update on International Flight Operations

The Government of Nigeria has announced that international flights will resume on August 29, 2020. International operations are to begin first at Abuja and Lagos, and new procedures are in place to minimize the spread of COVID infections.  The U.S. Mission in Nigeria does not have any additional information at this time regarding the reopening of the airports in Nigeria.  Once additional information is available, we will notify U.S. citizens through the Smart Travel Enrollment Program (STEP).
