Event: Ensure All Travel Documents are Up to Date
The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate in Lagos have been working diligently to identify all potential evacuation flight options for U.S. citizens who are trying to repatriate to the United States. If you are considering taking one of these flights, please check the validity of your passport to ensure it still has at least one month of validity. If your passport is not valid or will expire within 1 month, please contact either: LagosACS@state.gov or AbujaACS@state.gov to request an appointment for an emergency passport. Please provide your full name as it appears on your passport, date of birth, passport number, and the expiration date.
Legal Permanent Resident (LPR)/Green card holders are also asked to check the validity of their Permanent Resident Card. If your card will expire within 1 month, please contact LagosNIV@state.gov or EmergencyAbujaNIV@state.gov and provide your full name as it appears on your card, date of birth, card number, and the expiration date.
Non-U.S. citizens or LPRs who plan to accompany a U.S. citizen child must have a valid U.S. visa and a valid foreign passport. Important Note: Only one non-U.S. citizen parent can accompany a minor child on an evacuation flight. This includes families with more than one U.S. citizen child. Please contact EmergencyLagosNIV@state.gov or EmergencyAbujaNIV@state.gov if you have any questions regarding a Non-Immigrant Visa for the purposes of travel to the U.S. on an evacuation flight. Please provide your full name, date of birth, visa number (if applicable), and expiration date.
Furthermore, we ask all potential travelers to ensure they have any other relevant documents including Yellow Fever Cards, etc. Being prepared now will ensure your smooth departure from Nigeria and arrival in the United States.
