Ms. Catherine Avery is CDC-Nigeria’s Deputy Country Director and is primarily responsible for the management and operations of the office. She has over 30 years of public health management experience including serving as deputy country director in Ethiopia, Angola, and Botswana. Before joining the CDC global workforce, she served in leadership positions at CDC headquarters in Atlanta where she was the deputy branch chief for HIV/AIDS Surveillance as well as the associate director for management and operations in the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) and administrative officer for the National Center for Infectious Diseases. While in DHAP, Catherine managed the largest domestic program budget at CDC; in NCID, she was responsible for the management of the largest program staff at the agency.
She has an MPH in Management Science from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and a BS in Health Care Management from the University of Alabama.
