Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Faculty

This United States Mission Nigeria welcomes nominations for 2013 Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI). A total of six institutes will be offered for university-level faculty. The submission deadline is no later than Monday, December 3, 2012. Nomination emails should be submitted to program officer via email to culturallagos@state.gov OR culturalabuja@state.gov.

Candidates must be lecturing at one of the PAS Affiliated Institutions/ Universities. They should pay particular attention to the essays. Those who have applied before but were not successful can reapply but must update their essays and application.

Institute Description

Study of the United States Institutes are intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture, and institutions.

The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad. Pending U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs grant approval, the Institutes will take place at various colleges and universities throughout the United States over the course of six weeks beginning in June 2012.
