The EducationUSA Advising Center of the U.S. Embassy Abuja and U.S. Consulate General, Lagos is organized its 20th Annual COLLEGE FAIR, September 23-26, 2019. EducationUSA promotes U.S. education by providing students and parents in Nigeria with unbiased information and counsel for study in U.S. universities and colleges. Some of the services provided include guidance on the U.S. college application process, standardized testing, student visa requirements, and pre-departure orientation. In addition, the center provides outreach to Nigerian secondary schools, universities and other institutions.
Over the last 19 years, our College Fairs have directly contributed to an increase in the number of highly qualified Nigerian applicants to U.S. institutions. During the fair, students have the unique opportunity to explore the diversity and vitality of higher education in the United States. Representatives from U.S. institutions as well as EducationUSA advisers and staff from Nigerian educational bodies are on hand to interact with attendees.
We invite representatives from U.S. institutions to join us at our Annual College Fair. We encourage institutions to send catalogs, brochures, application forms and memorabilia for distribution to interested students. If your schedule does not permit travel to Nigeria, we gladly extend an invitation to alumni in Nigeria to represent their institution by hosting a table, where materials will be displayed. Institutions provide names of active alumni within Nigeria or Africa to represent their alma mater.
We expect over 1,500 participants (undergraduate and graduate students) at both locations. Nigeria is the leading country of origin among all African countries and 14th worldwide for international students, our student fair represents a huge potential return on investment. Last year, Nigerian student enrollment at U.S. universities and colleges increased by nearly 10%.
Lagos will be hosting their fair on Monday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 24 in two different locations while Abuja will be hosting a two-day program: an undergraduate open exhibition and a graduate fair, taking place on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday 26, 2019 respectively.
