David Greene, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, joined the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria as Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2022. As of March 31, 2023, Mr. Greene is the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim for the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.

Mr. Greene served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires in Morocco from 2019-2022; he had previously served as Political Counselor in Rabat from 2012-2015.  Other assignments include postings in Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Vietnam and tours in Washington as Director of the Office of Egyptian Affairs;  Director for ASEAN Multilateral Affairs; and Deputy Director for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs.

Mr. Greene holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University, a master’s from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a master’s from the U.S. National War College.  He speaks Arabic and French.  Mr. Greene is married and has two daughters.
